The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme is designed to benefit the children and widows of Ex-Servicemen, Ex-Coast Guard personnel, and selected categories of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles personnel. Officials have stated that approximately 5,500 scholarships are awarded every year, with equal opportunities provided to male and female applicants. Priority is given to the children and widows of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty or suffered disabilities during service.
To be eligible for PMSS 2026, candidates must have secured at least 60 percent marks in their qualifying examination. Additionally, applicants must be enrolled in recognized professional or technical courses approved by competent authorities. Courses covered under the scheme include Engineering, Medical Sciences, Dental Studies, Veterinary Sciences, Nursing, MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, Law, and several other higher education programs.
The application process is entirely online and can be completed through the National Scholarship Portal. Candidates are required to submit supporting documents, including educational certificates, service records of parents or spouses, Aadhaar details, bank account information, and proof of admission.
